How to Become a Blogger? In earlier 2013, I have decided to become a blogger because I am very inspired by WPBeginner how they present their content in their blog and give infinite value to those who visit their website. They help millions of people with WordPress problems and I can feel how satisfying are when helping people. Besides that, they can generate millions of dollars per year because of blogs. That is the main point when we have a blog. Interesting right?

Starting from there, I tried to create one of my first blogs, but my visitors just come from Malaysia only. So, I have limited visitors and limited income from my blog. Not too much I can generate income when I target for my country only. So, I try to change the game.

With blogging, I can earn about four figures every month in MYR currency. For me, this is not enough income as a full-time blogger. I need a lot of time to learn how to generate more revenue from blogging.

I never give up to generate more income from blogging. So, I decide to be an international blogger. I want to make a blog as a career. For me, blogging is not just about money. The money will generate automatically when you have a passion for blogging.

Because of that, in 2018 I decided to create my international blog, minutesguide.com. Earlier, cause I am inspired by WPBeginner, I want to write about WordPress only on my blog but I decided to spread my topic content wider. Not for just WordPress only. The main point is, how much value my visitor get from my content.

My Story To Become A Blogger

When I created my first blog, I have no knowledge about WordPress, Hosting, Domain, cPanel, and all related to websites. I started from zero knowledge. So, the first thing I do is, buy an ebook guide on how to install WordPress on the server properly. I know there are many free guides out of there or just Google for it, but for beginners like me at that time, I need a guide step by step and properly sequence what I must do.

So, after one week I learned about WordPress, domain, and hosting, now I try to install WordPress into the server. It’s quite a bit difficult because there are a lot of technical things you have to do. But, believe me, it is difficult because you are not familiar with that. Gotcha! I did it!

I am very happy when I succeed to install my WordPress into the server with guidance. Starting on that day, I start to write my first post!

Do you know what happens? After two months, I feel no longer eager to update content in the blog because no money, no generate income, and visitors to my blog very little. But, I still stay positive and continue to update my content.

After six months, my blog started to generate income from affiliate programs. I feel very grateful.

So, what is the main point here?

Passion.

To become a blogger, you need a passion. Passion first and income will follow after that. How long? It depends on your effort and your target visitors.

I do not know what happen if I stop blogging after two months when I never generate income from my blog. Maybe I was unable to create income from the blog until now.

Five Characteristics You Must Have To Become A Blogger

To become a full-time blogger and make it as a profession, it is not easy as you think. You must have this rule if you want to be a successful blogger.

Rule #1: Passion

If you want to become a blogger, the first thing is you must have a passion. Please do not write a blog because you look many people can generate income from it. If you think so, after one month or two months, your blog will not have any new posts. This is because you do not have a passion for it. You just chase the money.

In reality, passion is number one and income will follow you after that. How much, it depends on your effort, strategy, and your target visitors.

As I told you above in my story, my blog started generating income almost six months after creating a blog. See. If I just create a blog because of money, I will stop writing on the blog.

Rule #2: Never Give Up

When you have a passion for blogging, next the critical thing is you must never give up. That is why I tell you. Blogging is not just about money. The money will generate automatically when you are passionate about it. If you look at the successful blogger today, they are all starting from the bottom scratch with zero traffic and zero income.

But, day by day, month by month, year by year, they are slowly making money from the blog until 5-6 figures every month.

Rule #3: Consistent

Consistent is about discipline. Without consistency, you will have trouble becoming a blogger.

First, please update consistently at least three new articles in one week. If can and you want to see results faster, you can update it daily. For your information, Google loves blogs that always have fresh content. This is a change for your article rank on the first page of Google.

Second, please focus and be consistent on one blog until you have success with it. Consistent is very important to make you longer in the blogging industry. Please do not jump to another blog before you do not achieve success before.

That is why, before you make a blog, please consider your audience and your topic because these factors will decide whether your blog success or not.

Rule #4: Patient

Ask yourself.

Can you be patient and wait about 3-6 months to write consistently on your blog without generating any income? If yes, you have a good characteristic to be a successful blogger. But please monitor your traffic during this period and plan how to make more traffic to your blog. In a blog journey, two or three months after blogging money is not important, but traffic is very important.

This is a benchmark and sign if your blog can go further or stop halfway.

Rule #5: Creative Writing

Last but not least, you must have the skill how to write content creatively. I mean, if you write about promoting an affiliate product, please write in sharing tone style. Please do not write in a sales tone style. Do you understand what I mean?

For example, if you want to promote an ebook. Please do not push someone to buy it but you can share the benefits or value if they get the ebook. When you share about it, maybe someone will be interested in what you have explained and they will buy the ebook. Automatically you get a commission from it. Easy?

Before this, I have shared with you my story about how I started blogging and what the character you must have to become a blogger.

Become a blogger is not easy as you think. Basically, to become a blogger and generate income from it, firstly you just create a blog, secondly write something on the blog, and thirdly income will generate for you.

But is not easy like that.

Do not worry, in this post, I will try my best to guide you on how to become a blogger from zero to hero where I target you will learn all about blogging in less than 24 hours.

#1. Get Hosting And Domain Name

What is hosting and domain name?

In simple words, hosting is a place where all of the website’s contents are stored on it like code, image, files, folder, etc. All of these will present in website form.

Meanwhile, a domain name is a URL (www.yourdomain.com) for your website.

I hope it is simple and clear.

First, what you must do is, please think and decide the best name for your URL or for your blog name.

Please follow this simple step on how to choose the best domain name.

1. Keep two phrase. Ex: MyToys.com, TikTok.com, FaceBook.com
2. Character do not exceed over 15 characters. Keep it short to memorable.
3. If can, the domain name related to your business.
4. Avoid number and hyphens.
5. Easy to spell and type.

When you have decided on your domain name, now you must choose the best web hosting for your blog.

When you are on this part, I have assumed you already got your domain dan hosting for your blog. Congratulations on making a wise decision!

Now, what you need to do is install WordPress on your server

What is WordPress?

WordPress has two types that are WordPress.com and WordPress.org. Both of them are under the same company, same function but have different structures.

WordPress which I have mentioned here is WordPress.org only. Please focus on it.

WordPress is a software to create your own blog or website for free on your server. In fact, almost half of websites on the internet are powered by WordPress. Based on my observation and my experience, only WordPress is easy to manage content compared to other CMS. So, that is why WordPress has millions of users in the World.

Then, how to install it on your server?

Before this, I have written about how to install WordPress completely on the server. You may refer to the guide for the complete tutorial.

Here, I just write a summary of how to install WordPress on hosting.

1. Login to cPanel.
2. Go to section Softaculous Apps Installer. If you choose web hosting which I have recommended, all of them have Softaculous features that you can install WordPress easily.
3. Click on WordPress logo
4. Then, you need to setup WordPress configuration.
5. Finally click on Install button

Now, you have a blog powered by WordPress and ready to make your first post.

Before that, what you need to do is, please settings and configure your WordPress properly because it is important for your website SEO.

#3. Install Recommended Plugins and Theme

Basically, WordPress is just a plain function where you can create a post only. But, if you want to empower your blog with full functionality, you must install some plugins and choose one of the best themes.

So, in this section, we will discuss about recommended plugins and themes that you need to install on your blog. So, you no need to make research and waste your time. Just follow this guide.

Plugins

For plugins, there are so many best plugins to install into your WordPress but what I have mentioned here are the basics and important plugins you need on your blog.
